Textmate vs E-texteditor

by wgaffa Email

As I recently switched to Mac and been using E-Texteditor for a while I have noticed some differences.

Undo

One annoyance I have with textmate is the way it handles Undo's. In E-Texteditor I could write a string within a second or two and undo it in one keystroke. This has it's advances when you have to undo several changes and that's what the awesome undo history in E-Texteditor is for.

Transpose

Althought I haven't used Textmate that long I still have to find a way to transpose two variables in a function call. In E-Texteditor it was easy, hold control and select the variables to be switched and press Ctrl+T. Textmate has column selection but that doesn't come close to what E-texteditor does.

Go to file

I couldn't believe it was so slow on Textmate, even thought the search in E-texteditor is slow at first it remembers what you searched for in the past and picks up it's speed over time. But Textmate choose to index all the files on every startup? I got a spaghetti code of about 9k files to search. E-texteditor handles this better than Textmate at the moment.

Well, that was my rant and as you probably can guess E-texteditor is on top at the moment but I will use Textmate since I will begin to use Mac more.
